I was drawn to the 'bottom end' of music from an early age, joining the school brass band at the age of twelve, switching to bass guitar at sixteen. I've been self-taught from day one, drawing from a variety of influences in the rock world before discovering Miles Davis, Weather Report and Brand X.
Since those early steps, I have gigged and recorded with several bands around the North East, playing a selection of original pop and jazz for a number of years, before career pressure forced a lengthy hiatus. Finally, a group of friends drew me from this hibernation to form a covers band, rekindling the desire to perform again.
Eventually, after some great years, the re-location of some of the group led to a new musical outlet being required. I noticed an advert on the Riffs website from a band I'd seen perform and, a couple of auditions later, I was asked to join the Jo James Band.
